Stop the lies regarding Kai Havertz!

Arsenal's £65m summer signing Kai Havertz is yet to convince the club's faithful that the significant financial outlay required to land him was justified - that's fair to say based on the evidence so far, but that's not to say he can't or wont in the coming months.

The truth is, he's only four league games into his Gunners career and so there's no need to panic. Labelling him as a 'flop' is as premature a statement as it is unfair. If we're still having this conversation in a few months time, well, that's a different story.

Kai Havertz is yet to convince in Arsenal colours...

The thinking behind deploying the German in that 'left-eight' position makes sense but behind closed doors, I'm sure even Mikel Arteta would admit, it's yet to work out the way he imagined in terms of outputs.

Football is a game of opinions and if fans, onlookers and pundits want to debate his suitability to the side, the impact his inclusion has on the balance of the team etc - I'm fine with that.

What I take issue with are lies and 'observations' that are totally inaccurate making headlines. Former Gunner Stewart Robson recently said this of the 24-year-old and the club's supporters:

"He has gone to Arsenal and the Arsenal fans don't want him in the side. They are booing him, at the moment. They don't want him in the team." (via ESPN)

There are of course some that would prefer to see Havertz left out of the starting XI at present and that's a perfectly valid and fair opinion to have.

When we learned Thomas Partey was out for the Manchester United fixture and beyond, I'd be lying if I said the thought never crossed my mind - for the balance of the side more than anything else.

However, to suggest Arsenal fans are turning up to games and booing him is totally inaccurate and quite frankly a nonsense. It's a lie.

There was a time when that type of thing would have happened at Emirates Stadium. A time when the fans felt disconnected, disillusioned and felt the need to voice their feelings regarding the direction in which we were headed as a football club - not these days though.

The home support is as positive as it's been in years and a few dissenting voices online do not represent the majority of Arsenal fans who are behind their team, players and manager.

Of course there's a conversation to be had about Havertz's role, his suitability to it, the pros and cons etc but when lies are circulating that could have an impact on one of our players - it's our responsibility as supporters to call them out.

Refreshing and balance view from an intelligent mind, not one of those that prefer to be stupid and popular.
